This is the George that we will
remember! So happy and full of
life! He loved to play soccer, scored
highest in his class on standardized testing, was a tremendous help to “Auntie
Margaret,” and was as close as a brother to Simon (Margaret’s orphan with Down
Syndrome). We will never know what took
his life, possibly a ruptured appendix, but we trust that God is in control!
In the last hours of George’s life
he was concerned about others. Staff at
the local clinic said that he was actually praying for the nurses and thanking
them for caring for him. He was also
expressing thanks to Margaret for taking him into her home years ago.
One of our 2011 team members had
this to say on Facebook: “Heartbroken, grieving from the loss of a beautiful
beloved orphan from one of the orphanages we work with in Sierra Leone today.
But, celebrating the life of a child who proclaimed How Great God's love is.
Reading a letter he sent to my son Zeke this winter "Dear Zeke, How are
you doing? I hope everything is alright. My main purpose for writing this
letter is just to tell you about God's love. I love you, but God loves you more
than I do..." I am thankful for this lesson of love from a boy whose smile
and life touched my heart. There are thousands of children who will die in
Africa today, this one I was blessed to know personally, but they all matter.
They are God's children and ours. Praying for the missionaries ministering in these
hard parts of the world. Praying for the hurting, for ultimate healing.”
George was a blessing to all who
knew him!

So sorry to hear about the loss of one so young. I know your hearts are hurting. We are praying that God will heal your hearts with the knowledge that he is safe in the arms of our Savior. You will see him again one day.
